PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Kingsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lev Tolstoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tolstoy has chosen AWOLNATION - SAIL as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Kingsley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lev Tolstoy!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kingsley closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tolstoy did well to prevent Kingsley getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kingsley is nestled in close to Tolstoy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Tolstoy actively working from the bottom here.
Kingsley is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Kingsley slows the pace down in half guard.
Nice strikes from Kingsley there.
Kingsley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Kingsley works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Kingsley looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Tolstoy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kingsley in particular looking to stall.

Tolstoy is looking for a sweep. Kingsley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kingsley takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Kingsley is thwarting Tolstoy's attempts to control the position.
Kingsley working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kingsley perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Tolstoy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kingsley pulls his head out easily.

Kingsley misses with a head shot. Tolstoy uses the momentum to regain guard.
Tolstoy looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kingsley puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Kingsley landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kingsley lands a nice short elbow.
Tolstoy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tolstoy.
Kingsley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Tolstoy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kingsley is looking to work some ground and pound but Tolstoy has wrist control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kingsley wants to pass the guard but Tolstoy is keeping the position.

Kingsley avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tolstoy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Kingsley dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kingsley connects with a couple of short punches.
Kingsley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Tolstoy is trying to keep Kingsley in close.
Kingsley controlling from the top position.
Tolstoy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kingsley is now in half guard.
Kingsley working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Tolstoy is looking to control Kingsley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tolstoy avoid being mounted?

Tolstoy wants to improve his position but Kingsley is controlling well.
Tolstoy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kingsley pushes down on Tolstoy's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kingsley lands strikes from half guard.
Kingsley passes the guard and advances to mount!

Kingsley lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Kingsley cracks Tolstoy with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Kingsley!
James Kingsley spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
