PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vinicius Kruger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Kenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kruger comes to the cage accompanied by House Boulevard - Set Me Free. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vinicius Kruger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patrick Kenzie!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruger moves away from the strike by Kenzie.
Kruger misses with a hook.

Kenzie has managed to clinch.
Kruger fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kenzie scores with a shoulder strike.
Kenzie lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kenzie lands a body shot.
Kruger blocks an uppercut.
Kruger has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kruger is looking to control Kenzie's arms but Kenzie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kruger has his back to the cage.
Kruger drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kenzie gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kenzie is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Kruger pulls Kenzie into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kenzie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kenzie wants to stand but Kruger is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kenzie trying to control the position from guard on top but Kruger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kruger is looking for a triangle but Kenzie pushes his legs off easily.
Kenzie is looking to stand up but Kruger won't let him.

Kenzie avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kruger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kruger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kenzie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kenzie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kenzie wants to stand but Kruger has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kruger seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kenzie is looking to stand up but Kruger won't let him.

Kenzie gets to his feet - Kruger follows without any prompting.
Kruger throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kenzie on the side of the head.


It looks like Patrick Kenzie has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kenzie lands with a right hand.
Kenzie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kenzie throws a jab but it's blocked by Kruger.
Kenzie staying out of range there.
Kenzie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kruger misses with a wild body shot.
Kruger throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kenzie.
Kruger cracks Kenzie with a right hand to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kenzie misses with a body shot.
Kenzie shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Kenzie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kruger.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vinicius Kruger. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kenzie lands a jab-cross combination.
Kenzie fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kruger on the side of the head.
Kruger throws a hook to the side of Kenzie's head but Kenzie sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kruger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Patrick Kenzie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kenzie jabs Kruger right on the nose. Kruger blinks but takes it well.
Kruger misses with a hook. Kenzie ducked under it nicely.
Kruger fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kruger looks to land a left hand but Kenzie moved out of range nicely.
Kenzie connects with the punch.
Kruger uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kenzie.
Kruger closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kenzie circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kruger looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Kenzie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kruger throws out the jab.

Kenzie pushes Kruger up against the cage in a clinch.

Kenzie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kenzie closes the distance and clinches.
A left hand lands to the body for Kenzie.
Kenzie lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kruger or not.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Kenzie lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Still in the clinch, Kenzie scores with a nice short uppercut.
Kruger is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Kenzie scores with a shoulder strike.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nice body punch from Kenzie - that landed with a thud.
Kruger blocking some punches.

Kenzie pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Kenzie dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Patrick Kenzie's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kenzie swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kenzie has closed the distance and engaged Kruger in a clinch.
Kruger is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kenzie is defending well.
Kenzie scores with a nice hook to the head.
Kenzie throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Krugers head.


Kruger is rocked!
Kenzie scores with a shot to the side of Kruger's head.
Oh Kruger is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kruger is trying to pull guard but Kenzie has him pressed against the cage.
Kenzie scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Kenzie lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Good body shot from Kenzie.
Kenzie creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Kruger's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Kruger drops to his knees and Kenzie pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Kenzie!
During a confident post fight interview, Patrick Kenzie thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
