PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vecheslav Gurin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stardust Corpsegrinder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gurin comes to the cage accompanied by Dolphin - I Will Live. Stardust Corpsegrinder will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vecheslav Gurin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stardust Corpsegrinder!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corpsegrinder swings for the body but Gurin moves out of range.
Corpsegrinder misses with an attempted mid kick.
Gurin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Corpsegrinder gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Corpsegrinder misses with a knee to the head.
Corpsegrinder misses with a knee strike.
Corpsegrinder tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Corpsegrinder throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Gurin tries to pull guard but Corpsegrinder holds him up against the cage and eventually Gurin drops back down to his feet.

Gurin jumps into guard, dragging Corpsegrinder to the mat.

Gurin has his foot on Corpsegrinder's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Corpsegrinder works his way back into a safe position though.

Gurin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Corpsegrinder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Corpsegrinder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Corpsegrinder must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gurin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Corpsegrinder just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vecheslav Gurin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Corpsegrinder looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Gurin jumps guard but Corpsegrinder turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gurin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Corpsegrinder smiles and moves away.

Corpsegrinder clinches up with Gurin and pushes him back against the cage.

Gurin jumps guard and drags Corpsegrinder to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Corpsegrinder got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gurin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Corpsegrinder has managed to get both his arms back between Gurin's legs - danger averted.

Gurin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Corpsegrinder can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Corpsegrinder postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Stardust Corpsegrinder will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Gurin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gurin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Corpsegrinder is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gurin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Corpsegrinder tries to roll over but Gurin keeps him under control.

Gurin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Vecheslav Gurin!
Vecheslav Gurin spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
