PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Tatum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirill Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrov has chosen Iron Man as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kirill Petrov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tatum tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Petrov swivels and escapes.
Kirill Petrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tatum takes a swing at Petrov's ribcage but misses.

Petrov moves into the clinch successfully.

Tatum jumps guard and drags Petrov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Tatum has his foot on Petrov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Petrov works his way back into a safe position though.

Tatum wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Petrov is now in half guard.
Petrov is nestled in close to Tatum, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Petrov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Tatum on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Tatum is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Petrov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tatum keeps working.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Petrov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tatum defends it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Petrov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tatum moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Well Petrov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
