PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Recksun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lou Ferrigno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Recksun comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lou Ferrigno was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugh Recksun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lou Ferrigno!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrigno slips a jab and a cross from Recksun.
Ferrigno fails to land with a series of punches.
Ferrigno lands with a nice combination. Recksun backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Hugh Recksun has been cut.
A punch combination from Ferrigno misses.
Ferrigno throws a series of punches but Recksun moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Recksun tries to close the distance and clinch but Ferrigno swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jab, jab by Ferrigno - just one landing.

Ferrigno drops Recksun with a left and a right! Oh, Recksun is hurt - Ferrigno dives into side control looking to finish!


Hugh Recksun's cut is getting worse.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Ferrigno is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Recksun has escaped the position, nice work there.

Recksun regains half guard there - taking advantage of Ferrigno's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ferrigno looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ferrigno is keen to just control but Recksun is a slippery customer.

Ferrigno is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Recksun tries to kick Ferrigno off but Ferrigno keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Recksun is defending against the submission attempts here by Ferrigno.

Ferrigno is looking for a kimura but Recksun is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ferrigno to get the leverage.

Ferrigno is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ferrigno takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Recksun is trying to stand up here but Ferrigno is controlling him well.

Ferrigno is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Recksun doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ferrigno.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Recksun is defending against the submission attempts here by Ferrigno.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donk. Ferrigno catches Recksun right on the button with a cross.
Lou Ferrigno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ferrigno throws a right hand that Recksun ducks under and follows up with a left that Recksun also avoids with ease.
Nice body punch from Ferrigno.

Ferrigno steps into range and cracks Recksun with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Recksun flops backwards and Ferrigno dives into his guard looking to finish!

Ferrigno trying to control the position from guard on top but Recksun is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Ferrigno has gone for a leg lock! Recksun slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ferrigno's guard.

Ferrigno working for a triangle but Recksun defends it easily.
Ferrigno trying to keep a closed guard but Recksun is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferrigno is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Recksun wants to get up but he can't break Ferrigno's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ferrigno is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Recksun frees his head nicely. Oh but Ferrigno has switched to an armbar! Recksun is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
