PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between William Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micheal White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Micheal White!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Bird displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as White throws out the jab.
Bird connects with a body shot that sends White's belly button to the back.
Bird loads up on a big right hand but White slips the punch.
White swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bird.

Bird darts in and clinches White up against the cage.
White takes an elbow to the forehead.
Bird looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Bird breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bird ducks under a wild hook from White.
White feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Birds jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
White misses with a hook.
White looks to land a combination but Bird avoids it well.
White goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Bird, right into the meat.

Bird lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
White throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
White misses with a double jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An inside leg kick lands from Bird.
White needs to keep his hands up - Bird had a free shot at his head there.

and White counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
White fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bird fakes the leg kick and cracks White in the body.
Bird is looking to slow White down with leg kicks.
Bird connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
White is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Bird counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bird lunges at White with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by White's hand.
White is still on wobbly legs! Can Bird finish him?
Bird throws a nice outside leg kick.
Bird closes the distance and catches White with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! White is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and White is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! White is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Bird takes it!
