PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Schrank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Furijima Donatello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donatello has chosen Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Schrank!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Furijima Donatello!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donatello shoots in for a takedown but Schrank shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Donatello dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Donatello fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Donatello has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Schrank.
Schrank ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Donatello shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Schrank sprawls well. Schrank wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Donatello gets slowly back to his feet.
Frank Schrank has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Furijima Donatello.

Donatello closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Schrank quickly recovers to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schrank has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Donatello is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Donatello wants to work for an arm triangle but Schrank is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Schrank is holding on to half guard well.
Schrank wants to improve his position but Donatello is controlling well.
Schrank works his way to full guard. Good work.
Donatello trying to control but Schrank is working from the bottom.
Donatello in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Donatello wants to control from the top but Schrank keeps moving.
Donatello stopping the sweep attempt from Schrank.
Donatello throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donatello trying to control but Schrank is working from the bottom.
Schrank controls Donatello momentarily but Donatello frees himself.
Schrank is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Donatello connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schrank displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Donatello.
Donatello missing with a left hand there. Schrank was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Donatello throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Schrank connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Schrank goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Schrank stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Schrank wants it to stay on the feet.
That kick from Schrank tenderised Donatello's leg. Donatello is trying to keep his angry face on.
Donatello shoots for a double leg takedown but Schrank sprawls well. He's pushed Donatello's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Donatello looks winded!
Schrank feints and then cracks Donatello's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Donatello down.
Furijima Donatello seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Donatello is trying hard to land a takedown here. Schrank sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Donatello walks into a left hand.


It looks like Furijima Donatello has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Donatello walks into a straight right hand from Schrank.
Schrank with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Schrank ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Schrank drops Donatello with a beautiful combination! Donatello stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Schrank is looking for the KO!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Schrank, right into the meat.
Schrank works the jab nicely.


That has opened up Furijima Donatello's cut even more.
Schrank feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Donatello collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Frank Schrank!
