The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartholomay misses with a takedown attempt - Kid sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
No luck for Bartholomay with that takedown attempt.
Bartholomay shoots in but Kid avoids the takedown attempt easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Horrible takedown by Bartholomay or perhaps it was just good defense by Kid which made him look bad.
Kid leaves Bartholomay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kid lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kid throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bartholomay stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bartholomay shoots in looking for a takedown but Kid manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bartholomay's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Karate Kid is winning the standup battle so far.
Bartholomay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kid swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kid uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bartholomay has time to react.
