Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orion Contras!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Contras decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Contras is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jones has managed to free his arm - good work.

Contras is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Contras eventually gives up the hold.
Jones is looking to control Contras's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted?

Contras is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jones sees it coming and defends easily.
Jones trying to control but Contras postures up.
Contras really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones manages to get to full guard.

Contras is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jones stands up from Contras's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
Randy Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Contras's head.
Jones lands with a good body shot.
Jones connects with a looping right hand.
Contras shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Contras's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Contras can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Contras is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Contras looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Contras escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones forces his way into half guard.

Jones is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Contras is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Randy Jones!
