PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Peri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Richardson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richardson has chosen WC - This is Los Angeles as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richardson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Richardson scores with a body shot.
Richardson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Peri eats them both and turns towards Richardson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Adam Peri has been cut.
Jeff Richardson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Richardson fails to land with a series of punches.
Peri misses with a head kick.
Peri is breathing heavily.
Richardson throws a right and a left that Peri avoids nicely.

Peri feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Richardson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peri can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Peri wants to control from the top but Richardson keeps moving.
Peri wants to stand but Richardson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Richardson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Peri circles away quickly and effectively.
Richardson looks to land a combination. Peri sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Richardson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Nice combo by Richardson! Oh, that's hurt him - Peri falls to the canvas and Richardson follows him into side control.

Oh Peri is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Richardson decides to stand back up. Richardson steps back and let's Peri get back to his feet.
Richardson throws a series of punches but Peri moves out of range.
Peri seems to have got his legs back now.
Peri needs to keep his hands up - Richardson had a free shot at his head there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Richardson lands a slapping body shot.
Richardson scores with the left hand. Peri knows he should have avoided that one.
Richardson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Richardson misses with a jab, cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Richardson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Adam Peri's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Richardson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Richardson duly obliges.
A nice combination there by Richardson.
Peri is looking to clinch.
Richardson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Peri shoots for a takedown but Richardson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Adam Peri is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Richardson scores with a hook to the body. Peri takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Richardson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Peri circles away quickly and effectively.
Richardson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Peri backs up against the cage.

A jab-cross combination lands for Richardson and sends Peri crashing to the mat! Richardson follows him down to the mat - Peri regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Richardson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Richardson is looking to stand but Richardson has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Richardson looking to control but Peri is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Peri is desperately trying to improve his position but Richardson has a good base and remains in mount.

Richardson is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Richardson wants to control the pace but Peri is squirming around nicely.
Richardson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Peri tries to lock up and control but Richardson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Richardson is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Richardson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Richardson.

Peri throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Richardson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Peri is in Richardson's guard.
Peri throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Richardson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Peri is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Richardson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Richardson looks to land a left hand but Peri moved out of range nicely.

Richardson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Peri manages to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Richardson tries to bum rush Peri with a series of wild strikes but Peri uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Peri tries for a takedown but Richardson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Richardson drives through with a takedown into Peri's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Jeff Richardson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Peri shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Richardson is trying to defend but Peri finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peri bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Peri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Richardson keeps working.

You can see the frustration on Richardson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Richardson fails to land with a series of punches.
A combination from Richardson does no damage.
Richardson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peri but Peri pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Peri connects with an inside leg kick.
Richardson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Peri finds it's way round the side to connect with Richardson's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Richardson throws a leg kick but Peri sees it coming and moves out of range.
Peri bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Richardson's head.
Richardson misses with a few strikes there.
Adam Peri has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jeff Richardson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Peri throws a head kick but Richardson moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Adam Peri showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Richardson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
