Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eli Donahue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Burns!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burns has managed to clinch.

Donahue gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Burns is trying to stand.

Donahue decides to stand and escape the position.

Donahue shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Donahue showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Donahue is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Donahue stops Burns from getting back to his feet.
Burns is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Burns moves into full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burns working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Donahue doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Donahue manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Burns is working an open guard so Donahue takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Donahue circles away from the clinch attempt.
Burns doesn't manage to clinch there - Donahue circles away.
Burns tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Burns fails with an attempt to clinch.
Burns turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Donahue showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Burns.

Burns gets tackled into the cage by Donahue. Donahue maintains the clinch.

Burns is trying to push Donahue away but Donahue has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Burns jumps guard but Donahue stands there with Burns around his waist. Burns gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Donahue pulls Burns into guard.
Burns preventing the sweep.
Burns tries to stand but Donahue is controlling from the bottom.
Donahue knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Burns on the ground.
Burns looks winded!

Donahue pulls Burns in close to prevent any damage.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Burns lands a couple of digs.
Donahue is adopting a defensive guard.
Donahue has a closed guard, preventing Burns from standing up.
Donahue is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Burns is controlling him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Burns tries to clinch up

and Donahue counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burns misses with a takedown

and Donahue counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Donahue.

Donahue jumps into guard, dragging Burns to the mat.
Burns wants to stand but Donahue is controlling his posture from full guard.
Donahue is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burns is looking to stand up but Donahue won't let him.
Donahue pulls Burns in close to prevent any damage.
Burns would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Burns closes the distance looking to clinch
and Donahue makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Burns really felt that one!
Burns misses with a takedown
and Donahue counters with a big head kick but Burns shrugs it off.
Burns tries to clinch but Donahue moves away

and Donahue counters with a takedown into side control.
Burns is trying to control Donahue's posture but Donahue avoids it.
Burns is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donahue scores with a couple of short elbows.

Donahue goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Burns rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Donahue's guard! Nice work there by Burns!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Burns accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Donahue is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Donahue avoiding damage.
Burns has Donahue pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Donahue manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Eli Donahue has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Burns.
Burns is trying to pull guard but Donahue turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Burns landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Donahue is struggling to control the position.

Burns ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Burns no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Donahue has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Donahue pushes down on Burns's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Donahue takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Burns has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Donahue is working away from the top position though.

Burns makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Burns shoots and misses

and Donahue counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Donahue frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burns looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Donahue is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Burns knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Burns for a finish.
Burns manages to reverse the position and now he's in Donahue's guard. Nice work there by Burns.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Donahue keeping moving, preventing Burns from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Burns tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Donahue manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burns takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Donahue not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Burns wants to control but Donahue is keeping busy.
Eli Donahue overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Donahue wants to work for an arm triangle but Burns is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Donahue is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Burns is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
