Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zackary Finyard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cu IV (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Finyard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Everlast - What Its Like. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
IV closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Finyard quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Finyard controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Finyard wants to get back to full guard.

IV thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Finyard is looking for a sweep. IV is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Cu IV hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

IV shoots in looking for a takedown but Finyard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing IV's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Finyard stands up over IV, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Finyard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

IV utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
IV wants to hit a switch here but Finyard passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for IV there!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Finyard lands a couple of good shots and IV has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Finyard tries to score with a low kick but IV moves his leg out of the way.
IV moves out of range as Finyard strikes.

Finyard misses with a wild body shot.
IV tries to score a power double leg takedown but Finyard sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten IV somewhat.

Finyard seems keen to control IV's posture.
IV controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Finyard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
IV with a flurry of punches that miss.
Finyard is looking to sinch up a triangle. IV throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Finyard's body to avoid the submission. Finyard has instead reached around IV's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Finyard arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
