Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Red Redyan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akihiro Shirasu!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shirasu shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Redyan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Shirasu creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Redyan sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Redyan is looking to regain half guard here but Shirasu keeps moving and retains side control.
Shirasu tries to stand but Redyan is controlling his head.
Redyan is looking for a sweep.
Redyan gets back to half guard.
Redyan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shirasu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shirasu's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shirasu manages to reverse the position and now he's in Redyan's guard. Nice work there by Shirasu.
Shirasu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Redyan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shirasu controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Redyan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shirasu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Redyan has an active guard here but Shirasu has managed to pass into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shirasu in particular looking to stall.
Redyan tries to roll over but Shirasu keeps him under control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Redyan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shirasu is figuring out what he wants to do next.
It looks like Shirasu might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Akihiro Shirasu wasn't active enough on the ground.

Redyan tries to sprawl but Shirasu drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Shirasu avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Redyan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shirasu defends it easily.

Redyan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shirasu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Redyan is tightening it up a little... Shirasu has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Shirasu reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Shirasu taps out! Nice BJJ there by Redyan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Red Redyan!
