The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harper fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Takka .
Timo Takka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Harper lands a nice looking kick to the body. Takka takes a step back to recover.
Harper doesn't manage to clinch there - Takka circles away.
Takka is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Harper.
Harper tries a low kick but Takka avoids it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Harper enables Takka to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Harper manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Takka throws a strike but Harper rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takka has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harper is working away from the top position though.

Takka throws a hook to the side of Harper's head but Harper sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Harper lands a leg kick that knocks Takka off balance momentarily.

Harper scores with a crisp jab that stopped Takka in his tracks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Harper lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Takka has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Takka and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
