PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hudson Levine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Levine might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Parkway Drive - Carrion. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hudson Levine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia lands a nice hook to Levine's body. Levine takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Levine has closed the distance and engaged Garcia in a clinch.

Garcia works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Levine is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Garcia loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Levine wants to stand and escape but Garcia is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garcia wants to control from the top but Levine keeps moving.
Garcia is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Garcia drops back looking for a leg! Levine is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Levine manages to kick Garcia off! Garcia jumps back into Levine's guard.

Garcia is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Levine is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Levine has escaped and now he's on top!
Garcia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Levine postures up in Garcia's guard and throws a big left but Garcia blocks it.

Levine drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Garcia manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Levine has Garcia in his guard.

Garcia has gone for a leg lock! Levine slips out almost immediately though and dives into Garcia's guard.
Levine working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Levine working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Garcia's head.
Garcia is trying to keep Levine in close.

Levine stands up and waves to Garcia to follow him.

Garcia connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Levine momentarily.
Levine moves in looking to clinch but Garcia pushes him off.

and Garcia counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Garcia.
Levine lands an elbow inside that Garcia shrugs off.
Levine lands with a light punch inside.

Garcia can't get the takedown.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Levine just misses with a elbow thrown towards Garcia's brow.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Garcia blocks an elbow strike.
Garcia wants a takedown but no success here.

Garcia drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hudson Levine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Garcia.

Garcia drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Levine gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Levine manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Levine is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Garcia is keeping busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Garcia blocks an elbow strike from Levine.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Marcelo Garcia will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Levine tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Garcia counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Levine!

Garcia is trying to get an arm triangle but Levine is defending well.

Garcia swings around for an armbar but Levine sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Garcia's guard.
Garcia trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Levine works over Garcia with some ground and pound from guard.

Garcia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Levine is aware though and is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Garcia can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Levine controls the pace.
Garcia has momentary wrist control but Levine slips an elbow through the middle.
Levine lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Garcia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Levine got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garcia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Levine has managed to get both his arms back between Garcia's legs - danger averted.

Garcia has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Levine is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Garcia.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Garcia tries to escape but Levine has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Levine working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Levine connects with a big shot to the side of Garcia's head.
Levine is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Levine gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Levine gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Levine apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Garcia cracks Levine with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Garcia sizes up Levine with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Levine tries to clinch up but Garcia circles away and keeps his distance.

Garcia swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Garcia throws the left hand but Levine avoids the punch easily.

Garcia drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Levine manages to get back to half guard.

Garcia is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Levine is just riding it out for now. Garcia eventually gives up the hold.

Garcia is working for a submission of some sort.
Levine is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Garcia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Garcia's back!

Levine is trying to stick to Garcia's back but Garcia is turning into Levine. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Levine's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Garcia.

Levine wants to stand up but Garcia is controlling him.
Levine manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Garcia tries to hold on but Levine postures up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Levine is keen to just control but Garcia is a slippery customer.
Garcia wants to control but Levine is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Marcelo Garcia will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Levine tries to clinch but Garcia is having none of it.
Garcia dives in and grabs Levine's left leg, looking for a takedown. Levine pushes down on Garcia's head and hops out.

Garcia throws a nice looking combination but Levine bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Levine has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Levine would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Garcia tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Garcia has hold of Levine's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Levine seems comfortable defending it but Garcia has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Levine is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Levine is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Garcia couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcelo Garcia!
