PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between AL Lickertwat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Glazer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, AL Lickertwat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Glazer!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lickertwat closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Glazer quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lickertwat missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Lickertwat throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Glazer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lickertwat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lickertwat seems to be looking for submissions.
Lickertwat lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Lickertwat is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Glazer has managed to free his arm - good work.

Glazer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Glazer is looking for a sweep. Lickertwat is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lickertwat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lickertwat works his way into side control.
The ground and pound from Lickertwat seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Glazer taking punishment in the form of punches.

Lickertwat looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Glazer is avoiding damage well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Glazer avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Lickertwat.
Lickertwat scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Glazer to see if he's OK.

Lickertwat tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Glazer is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Glazer regains half guard, as Lickertwat was trying to land strikes.
Glazer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Glazer wants to get back to his feet.
Lickertwat throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lickertwat throwing shots but Glazer is blocking nicely.
Glazer trying to control but Lickertwat postures up.
Glazer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lickertwat scores with a couple of nice shots.

Lickertwat is taking a breather. Glazer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lickertwat looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lickertwat lands a nice short elbow.


Glazer is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lickertwat not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lickertwat misses with a head shot. Glazer uses the momentum to regain guard.
Lickertwat wants to control from the top but Glazer keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lickertwat lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AL Lickertwat dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Lickertwat darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Glazer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Glazer pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Lickertwat back to the cage. Glazer follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Lickertwat dives in and grabs Glazer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Glazer pushes down on Lickertwat's head and hops out.
Lickertwat throws a nice looking combination but Glazer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lickertwat connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Glazer drops his hands momentarily and Lickertwat takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jay Glazer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Glazer throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lickertwat counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A punch combination from Glazer misses.
Lickertwat with a nice cross.
Glazer is still on wobbly legs! Can Lickertwat finish him?
AL Lickertwat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lickertwat bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Glazer looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Lickertwat steps in with a hook that catches Glazer right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Lickertwat follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Glazer looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). AL Lickertwat!
Our winner, AL Lickertwat, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
