Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Christopher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amir Abdalla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Amir Abdalla!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abdalla looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Abdalla not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Abdalla trying to control from half guard but Christopher is working away.
Christopher is looking for a sweep. Abdalla is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Christopher won't allow Abdalla to pass to mount.
Christopher manages to get to full guard.

Christopher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Abdalla must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Christopher wants to control but Abdalla postures up.
Christopher manages to work his way to half guard, despite Abdalla's best efforts.
Christopher is pressing down on Abdalla's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Christopher bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Abdalla's guard.

Christopher controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Christopher loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Abdalla keeping moving, preventing Christopher from controlling successfully.
Abdalla wants to stand and escape but Christopher is having none of it.

Abdalla is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Christopher defends well.

Christopher drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Christopher jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Christopher stays in close to Abdalla's body and controls the position.

Christopher wants to control from the top but Abdalla keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Christopher throws a big elbow that misses.
Christopher trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Christopher working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Christopher is breathing heavily.
Christopher seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Christopher's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Abdalla is looking to slow Christopher down with leg kicks.
Christopher shoots in looking for a takedown. Abdalla tries to sprawl out of it but Christopher keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Abdalla manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Abdalla pushes Christopher up against the cage in a clinch.

Abdalla's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Abdalla stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Abdalla wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Christopher. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Abdalla has closed the distance and engaged Christopher in a clinch.
Abdalla is pushing Christopher up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Christopher drops back looking for a leg! Abdalla is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Abdalla manages to kick Christopher off! Christopher jumps back into Abdalla's guard.

Abdalla really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Christopher. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ben Christopher just wasn't active enough.

Abdalla shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Christopher manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Abdalla wants to stand and escape but instead Christopher has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Christopher is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Christopher decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Christopher looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Christopher is looking to advance position but Abdalla won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Christopher thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Abdalla's head.
Abdalla is staying active underneath Christopher, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Abdalla is squirming around, avoiding Christopher's attempts to control the action.
Abdalla is desperately trying to improve his position but Christopher has a good base and remains in mount.

Christopher is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Abdalla is surviving well by controlling Christopher's body position as best he can.
Christopher prevents Abdalla from getting the reversal.

Christopher lands a nice shot to the head.

Christopher jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Abdalla manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Abdalla is trying to control Christopher's posture but Christopher avoids it.
Christopher trying to control the action but Abdalla is working from the bottom.
Abdalla is looking for a sweep.
Abdalla is not content to let Christopher control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Abdalla wants to control but Christopher postures up.
Abdalla throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Christopher working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Christopher passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Abdalla!
Abdalla is in a horrible position here. Christopher smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
