PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Night Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeshi Yuudai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man comes into the arena with Night Man blaring out of the sound system. Yuudai has chosen Fear of the dark - Iron Maiden as his entrance music. Takeshi Yuudai has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Night Man!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Takeshi Yuudai!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yuudai tries for a takedown but Man sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Yuudai shoots in looking for a takedown but Man manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Yuudai's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Man throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Man shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Man buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Man pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yuudai fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sloppy strikes from Yuudai. Those never looked like landing.
Man tries a head kick but it misses.
Yuudai shoots for a double leg takedown but Man sprawls well. He's pushed Yuudai's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Night Man has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takeshi Yuudai.
Man lands with a slapping head kick.
Man keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Yuudai uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Man.

Man goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Man throws a lazy head kick

and Yuudai decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Man's guard.
Man working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Yuudai.
Yuudai postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Man seems keen to control Yuudai's posture.
Yuudai has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Night Man wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Yuudai takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Yuudai looks for a takedown but Man sprawls well.
Yuudai fails with a takedown attempt.

Yuudai fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Man to the ground. Yuudai is now in Man's guard.

Yuudai pushes down on Man's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Yuudai takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Man wants to improve his position but Yuudai is controlling well.

Yuudai is looking for a kimura but Man is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Yuudai to get the leverage.
Yuudai winds up and cracks Man with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Man moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Man is looking to stand back up but Yuudai counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Man.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yuudai missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Yuudai is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Yuudai prevents Man from standing back up.

Yuudai is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Man trying to hold on to Yuudai's head to control him but Yuudai postures up.
Man is looking to improve his position.

Yuudai is working for a kimura but Man is defending it quite comfortably.

Yuudai looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Yuudai thows a huge punch but Man dodges it nicely.
Man tries to get to full guard but Yuudai has control of the leg.
Man is trying to maintain the position but Yuudai is very close to passing his half guard.
Yuudai not landing any meaningful shots this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Man wants to improve his position but Yuudai is controlling well.
Yuudai sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Man defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Takeshi Yuudai will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Yuudai shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Man defends it nicely.
Man fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Yuudai is out of range.
Yuudai shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Man sprawls well. Man wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Yuudai gets slowly back to his feet.
Yuudai is looking to clinch but Man is avoiding it.
Yuudai misses with a takedown attempt - Man sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Night Man has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takeshi Yuudai.
Man throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Man throws a nice outside leg kick.
Man lands a head kick. Yuudai smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Yuudai tries to work over Man's front leg with a kick but Man checks it.

Yuudai closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Man did well to prevent Yuudai getting side control.
Yuudai stops Man from getting back to his feet.

Yuudai seems to be working for a kimura but Man defends the submission attempt.
Yuudai works his way into full mount!
Man is trying to escape the mount.
Yuudai lands a couple of good shots and Man has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yuudai has the hooks in. Man is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yuudai is not going to allow Man to sit and survive in this position.
Can Man hold on?! Yuudai is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.


Man is rocked!

Yuudai is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Oh Man is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Yuudai has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Yuudai has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Man has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Man wants to escape the position.

Man is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Yuudai gets his way!
I really don't envy Man right now.

Yuudai is persistently looking for the submission but Man is defending it well.
Takeshi Yuudai has got the better of the ground game so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yuudai connects with a big shot to the side of Man's head.

Yuudai is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Man has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Yuudai has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Man taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Yuudai doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Takeshi Yuudai!
Our winner, Takeshi Yuudai, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
