PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Waclaw Panek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barret The Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Turk has chosen Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Barret The Turk!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by The Turk as he checks the leg kick.

Panek throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Turk's waist but The Turk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Panek off to one side.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Panek passes The Turk's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Panek stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Turk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Panek is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Panek is taking a breather. The Turk says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Panek slips a nice elbow through The Turk's hands, connecting with The Turk's forehead.
The Turk pushes Panek off looking to stand but Panek dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Panek working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The Turk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Panek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Panek shoots for a double leg takedown but The Turk sprawls well. He's pushed Panek's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Waclaw Panek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Panek on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Panek fakes high and swings low for a body shot but The Turk manages to avoid it.

Panek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. The Turk tries to avoid it but Panek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag The Turk to the ground. The Turk escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Panek closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The Turk regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Panek.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Panek fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. The Turk looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Panek drops back looking for a leg! The Turk is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and The Turk manages to kick Panek off! Panek jumps back into The Turk's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Waclaw Panek.
I think Panek has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
