PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Philip Ryne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Baramari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Philip Ryne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Baramari!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Baramari with that takedown attempt.
Ryne shoots in for a double leg but Baramari sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Baramari crunches a lovely knee into Ryne's ribcage.

Baramari decides to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baramari is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Baramari pulls Ryne in close to his closed guard and prevents Ryne from doing any damage or advancing position.
Ryne could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Baramari is looking to stand up but Ryne isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Baramari takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Baramari shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ryne's guard.
Baramari slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ryne thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Baramari has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ryne is proving hard to escape from.

Ryne has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Baramari is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ryne.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ryne is trying to improve his position.

Baramari decides to stand back up. Baramari steps back and let's Ryne get back to his feet.
Baramari shoots in looking for a takedown. Ryne tries to sprawl out of it but Baramari keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ryne manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Baramari cracks Ryne with a good jab.


It looks like Philip Ryne has been cut.

Ryne clinches.
Baramari connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ryne's face.
Baramari has Ryne pushed against the cage.
Baramari drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ryne pulls his leg out and moves away.
Philip Ryne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Baramari.
Baramari looks gassed!

Ryne tries to keep at a distance but Baramari has taken the fight into the clinch.
Baramari tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ryne jumps guard but Baramari stands there with Ryne around his waist. Ryne gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Baramari dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Ryne changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baramari looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Baramari is not content to let Ryne control the position.
Baramari is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ryne's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Baramari wants to get back to his feet.
Ryne stalling away here and it's allowed Baramari to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Baramari has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ryne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ryne wants to control from the top but Baramari keeps moving.

Ryne is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Baramari is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ryne would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Baramari clinches up with Ryne and pushes him back against the cage.
Ryne wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ryne gets underhooks to prevent Baramari's takedown attempt.

Ryne drops down looking for an ankle pick but Baramari pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Baramari counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Baramari.

Baramari tightens his grip and picks Ryne up, before dumping him to the ground. Ryne manages to land in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

and Baramari finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Baramari moves into the clinch.

Baramari gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Ryne regains guard.
Baramari advances to half guard.
Baramari passes to side control.

Baramari is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ryne has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Baramari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Ryne tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Baramari counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ryne is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Ryne counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ryne uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Baramari.

Ryne closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Baramari is in trouble now - Ryne has advanced to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ryne is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Baramari has managed to escape the submission attempt.
