The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner looks to throw the jab but Somchaimy is out of range.
Banner blocks a head kick by Somchaimy.
Nopparat Somchaimy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Somchaimy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Banner. That did some damage!
A solid leg kick lands there for Somchaimy.

Somchaimy turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Banner closes the distance and clinches up with Somchaimy, looking for a takedown. Banner pushes Somchaimy against the cage but Somchaimy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Banner is defended easily by Somchaimy.

Somchaimy connects with an inside leg kick.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Somchaimy.
Banner takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Jerome Le Banner has been cut.
Banner feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Somchaimys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Somchaimy looks to score with a jab to the body but Banner is just out of range.

Banner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Somchaimy napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Somchaimy wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Somchaimy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Banner is trying to control. Somchaimy wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Somchaimy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Somchaimy is pulling down on Banner's head to control his posture.
Banner trying to control but Somchaimy is working from the bottom.

Banner throws a big elbow that misses.
Somchaimy pulls Banner in close to prevent any damage.
Somchaimy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Somchaimy is on top in guard.

Nopparat Somchaimy has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Banner darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Banner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Somchaimy's head.

Somchaimy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Banner pulls his head out easily.
Banner trying to control the action but Somchaimy is working from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Somchaimy keeping hold of Banner's head, controlling as best he can.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Banner closes the distance and clinches up with Somchaimy, looking for a takedown. Banner pushes Somchaimy against the cage but Somchaimy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Somchaimy lands a big head kick that sends Banner tumbling to the mat! Somchaimy takes a step backwards and waves Banner back to his feet - he wants the finish!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Somchaimy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Banner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Banner is still on wobbly legs! Can Somchaimy finish him?

Banner seems to have recovered his senses.

Nopparat Somchaimy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerome Le Banner.

Somchaimy throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Banner is breathing heavily.
