The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hess will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
The fighters circling - Hess throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hess wants to land a leg kick but Hong is out of range.
Hess tries to land a front kick but Hong steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Hong throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hong. Hess does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hess takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hess blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Hong tries to throw a body punch but Hess avoids it by throwing Hong back against the ropes.

Hess breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hess keeps Hong at a distance using the push kick.

Hong on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hong swings for the body but Hess moves out of range.

Hess paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Hess tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hess lands with a good body shot.
Hess throws a shot to the body.
Hess closes the distance and catches Hong with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! Hong is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and Hong is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! Hong is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Hess takes it!
