Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zhang Wufie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stevie Wait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wufie comes to the cage accompanied by Beg Waves. Wait has chosen Times Up as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zhang Wufie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stevie Wait!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wufie lands with a slapping head kick.
Wait blocks the body kick.
A big left from Wait misses.
Zhang Wufie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wufie gets a double leg takedown into Wait's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wait is looking to stand up but Wufie isn't so interested in that idea.
Wait has control of Wufie's left arm, preventing Wufie from doing any damage.
Wait really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wufie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Wait isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wufie stacks Wait on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wufie!

Wufie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wait has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wait is trying to work for a sweep but Wufie has mounted him!
Wait is working to get back to half guard.
Wufie scoring with strikes but Wait is staying in there.
Poor strikes thrown by Wufie there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Wufie has hold of Wait's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Wait manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Wait has left one of his arms exposed and Wufie doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Wait screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Zhang Wufie!
In his post fight interview, Zhang Wufie started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
