Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joachim Da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Da Silva is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Boy named Sue. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Silva walks into a jab.
Da Silva avoids the head kick by Cote.
Da Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Cote sprawls well. He's pushed Da Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Da Silva rushes Cote and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cote is trying to break the clinch but Da Silva has him pressed against the cage.

Cote wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cote escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Da Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Da Silva has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joachim Da Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Joachim Da Silva spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
