PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Lundin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Balig Murska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murska has chosen Perhosveitsi-Heikki & Lika-Aki - Aakkoset as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert Lundin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Balig Murska!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murska looks to land a left hand but Lundin moved out of range nicely.
Murska leaves Lundin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Balig Murska seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Murska throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Lundin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Murska's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Murska looking to control.
Murska is adopting a defensive guard.
Murska tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lundin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lundin postures up in Murska's guard and throws a big left but Murska blocks it.
Murska looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lundin is one step ahead there.
Lundin trying to control the position from guard on top but Murska is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Murska preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Lundin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Murska is proving hard to escape from.
Lundin throwing strikes from guard but Murska blocks nicely.
Murska wants to stand but Lundin is controlling the position.
Lundin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lundin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lundin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lundin wants to pass the guard but Murska is keeping the position.
Lundin throws a strike but Murska rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Lundin striking off his back but it's not causing Murska any problems.

Murska postures up.

Lundin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Murska is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lundin.
Lundin wants to control but Murska postures up.
Lundin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Murska wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lundin is working hard here to advance position.
Murska wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lundin keeps working.
Murska in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Lundin manages to get back to half guard.
Lundin is refusing to be controlled, as Murska sits in half guard.
Murska slows the pace down in half guard.

Balig Murska has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Murska throws a nice inside leg kick.
Lundin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Murska sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lundin somewhat.

Lundin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murska manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Murska sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Lundin tries to lock up and control but Murska gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Murska takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lundin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Murska looking for a sweep. Not yet Murska, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Lundin dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Murska pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lundin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Balig Murska has been cut.
Lundin fails with a takedown attempt.
Lundin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Murska. Murska circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Lundin shoots in but no luck this time.
Lundin slips under a jab from Murska.
Murska misses with a jab to the body
and Lundin counters with a two punch combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lundin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Murska was well out of range. Poor timing from Lundin.
Lundin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Murska.
Murska with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Murska lands a leg kick that knocks Lundin off balance momentarily.
Murska misses with a low kick.
Murska keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Lundin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Murska works Lundin's body with a nice hook.
Robert Lundin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lundin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Murska connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lundin takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lundin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Murska sprawls well. Murska wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lundin gets slowly back to his feet.
Lundin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

It looks like Robert Lundin has been cut.
Lundin is looking to chop away at Murska's legs.
Murska stuffs the takedown.
Lundin takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Murska dips to his left and cracks Lundin with an uppercut!


Lundin is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Murska lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Lundin head around and knocks him out cold! Murska hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Balig Murska! Balig Murska retains his light heavyweight title!
An out of breath Balig Murska thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
