Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 41 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tony Mendez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fedor Martinsson!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Martinsson throws a sloppy head kick and Mendez moves out of range easily.
Mendez shoots in looking for a takedown but Martinsson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mendez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mendez fails with the takedown
and Martinsson counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Mendez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Martinsson counters with a body kick that stops Mendez in his tracks momentarily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Mendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mendez throws a leg kick

and Martinsson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mendez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Martinsson is stalling in the full guard.
Martinsson advances position into side control!

Mendez tries to bench press Martinsson off him but Martinsson keeps the position.

Martinsson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mendez has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Martinsson but great work by Mendez.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Mendez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Martinsson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mendez has managed to get both his arms back between Martinsson's legs - danger averted.

Mendez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Martinsson's head.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mendez moves into full mount! Martinsson won't be happy about that!

Martinsson tries to hold on but Mendez pushes him away.
Mendez looking to control but Martinsson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mendez scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Mendez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Martinsson is looking to escape.
Mendez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Martinsson is looking to improve his position but Mendez isn't that keen on the idea.

Martinsson tries to lock up and control but Mendez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mendez has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Martinsson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Mendez yanks on the arm and Martinsson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Mendez.
