Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brian Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has chosen Bring Da Ruckus as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Renato Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maddox.
Gracie just misses with a punch to the body.

Maddox decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gracie wants to get back to full guard.
Maddox thows a huge punch but Gracie dodges it nicely.
Gracie pushes Maddox off looking to stand but Maddox dives back in and keeps control.
Gracie keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Maddox takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Maddox prevents Gracie from improving his position.
Maddox trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Maddox has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Maddox throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Gracie tries to get to full guard but Maddox has control of the leg.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gracie wants to get back to his feet.

Maddox throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Gracie has one foot on Maddox's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Gracie wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Maddox throws a jab when Gracie was well out of range.

Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Maddox shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Gracie is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Maddox dives into side control.
Gracie is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Maddox is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maddox is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gracie can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Maddox lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gracie hang on?

Maddox winds up and cracks Gracie with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Maddox loads up on a big left hand. Gracie felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Maddox looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Gracie can't hide his disappointment, as Maddox celebrates the victory.
