PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Waturu Yatsubuta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Bloom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yatsubuta kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sweet Child O' Mine. Waturu Yatsubuta has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Waturu Yatsubuta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edward Bloom!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bloom fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Yatsubuta to the ground. Bloom is now in Yatsubuta's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Yatsubuta keeping moving, preventing Bloom from controlling successfully.
Bloom is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bloom tries to stand but Yatsubuta is controlling from the bottom.
Yatsubuta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bloom is one step ahead there.
Bloom is pushing down on Yatsubuta's leg trying to pass to half guard. Yatsubuta is fighting to maintain full guard but Bloom has managed to sneak the leg through.
Yatsubuta trying to control but Bloom postures up.
Yatsubuta is breathing heavily.
Bloom throwing shots but Yatsubuta is blocking nicely.

Bloom trying to mount his opponent but Yatsubuta defends it.
Yatsubuta is looking to control Bloom's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Yatsubuta avoid being mounted?
Yatsubuta is looking for a sweep. Bloom is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bloom perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bloom moves into the clinch successfully.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Bloom takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Bloom fails to land the takedown.
Yatsubuta defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bloom.
Waturu Yatsubuta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edward Bloom.

Bloom pushes Yatsubuta up against the cage in a clinch.

Bloom pulls guard.
Bloom bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yatsubuta's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bloom gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bloom looks for a takedown but Yatsubuta sprawls well.

Bloom has Yatsubuta up against the cage in a clinch.
Bloom drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bloom decides to pull guard.
Yatsubuta trying to control but Bloom is working from the bottom.
Bloom trying to keep a closed guard but Yatsubuta is proving a slippery customer.

Bloom has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Yatsubuta off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
No luck for Bloom with that takedown attempt.

Bloom rushes Yatsubuta and presses him up against the cage.

Bloom breaks the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bloom fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yatsubuta avoids it really well and circles away.
A decent looking cross lands there for Yatsubuta.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Bloom dominated that round.
That's time! Yatsubuta's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bloom fails with a takedown attempt.
Waturu Yatsubuta is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bloom has Yatsubuta up against the cage in a clinch.

Bloom has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Yatsubuta uses from the top position.
Yatsubuta prevents Bloom from getting back to his feet.

Bloom has his foot on Yatsubuta's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yatsubuta works his way back into a safe position though.
Yatsubuta wants to stand but Bloom has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Yatsubuta drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bloom looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bloom looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bloom!
Edward Bloom has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bloom just content to control the position.
Yatsubuta really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bloom wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yatsubuta, who protects the arm well.

Bloom decides to stand back up. Bloom steps back and let's Yatsubuta get back to his feet.
Bloom throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Bloom circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bloom tries for a takedown but Yatsubuta sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sloppy strikes from Bloom. Those never looked like landing.
Yatsubuta moves to clinch but Bloom breaks away
and Bloom counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Yatsubuta manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bloom on his heels. He'll look to pass Bloom's guard now, I'm sure.

Bloom looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Bloom is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Yatsubuta wants to stand but Bloom is controlling his posture from full guard.
Yatsubuta wants to control from the top but Bloom keeps moving.

Bloom bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yatsubuta's guard.
Yatsubuta is trying to keep Bloom in close.
Yatsubuta is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bloom is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bloom pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yatsubuta is keeping the position for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Edward Bloom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Bloom tries to score a power double leg takedown but Yatsubuta sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bloom somewhat.
Bloom rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Yatsubuta moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bloom shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yatsubuta as he jumps to the side.
Yatsubuta avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bloom sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Edward Bloom comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bloom has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Edward Bloom decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
