PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jean Pierre Babin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Babin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to South Park - Let's Fighting Love. Gray has chosen make love not war baby as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gray fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Babin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gray looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Babin misses the shot to the body.

Gray rushes Babin and presses him up against the cage.

Gray jumps guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Gray is looking for a triangle but Babin pushes his legs off easily.

Babin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Babin advances to half guard.
Babin prevents Gray from improving his position.
Gray moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Babin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gray works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gray working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Babin.
Babin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gray swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gray is trying to keep Babin in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Babin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gray has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Babin has managed to get both his arms back between Gray's legs - danger averted.
Babin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Gray wants to sweep here but Babin controlling him for the moment.
Babin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gray's guard.

Gray wants to improve his position but Babin is controlling well.
Gray has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Babin is working away from the top position though.
Babin prevents Gray from improving his position.
Babin is looking to advance position but Gray won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gray wants to get back to full guard but Babin has mounted him!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gray can't escape the position.
Gray takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Babin cracks Gray with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Gray regains half guard.

Gray is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Babin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Babin's back!

Even with his hooks in, Gray manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Gray is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Babin with him. Babin is trying to defend but Gray has an arm under the chin now! Babin grimaces and is forced to tap out!
