Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Soon Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuken Yanagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Soon Do!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryuken Yanagi!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Do lands a head shot.
Do misses with a looping right.
Yanagi with a lazy takedown attempt
and Do counters with a left and a right that stings Yanagi.
Do throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Yanagi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Do sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Yanagi somewhat.
Do looks to land a left hand but Yanagi moved out of range nicely.
Do throws a body punch but Yanagi moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Yanagi.
Soon Do has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryuken Yanagi.

Do gets a double leg takedown into Yanagi's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Do postures up and lands a big shot to Yanagi's brow.
Yanagi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Do connects with a couple of short punches.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Yanagi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Do keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Yanagi's head.
Do lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Do content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Yanagi keeping moving, preventing Do from controlling successfully.

Do preventing the sweep.

Do postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Do won't allow Yanagi to sweep him here.
Do is pushing down on Yanagi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Yanagi is fighting to maintain full guard but Do has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Do lands strikes from half guard.
Do scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Yanagi is rocked!

Yanagi is still in real trouble! Can Do finish him?
Do prevents Yanagi from improving his position.
Do lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Yanagi tries to get to full guard but Do has control of the leg.
Do working over Yanagi with some ground and pound. Yanagi looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Do is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Do working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Do lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Yanagi quite badly. Yanagi pulls Do in close trying to recover. Do postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Yanagi on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Yanagi doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Soon Do!
Soon Do decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
