Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Worsely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Mark Worsely!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mitsuyo Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Worsely scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Worsely moves out of range as Maeda throws a body kick.

Worsely throws a leg kick that is checked
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Worsely tries to close the distance and clinch but Maeda swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Worsely looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Worsely scores with a shot to the body.
Worsely lands with a right hand.
Worsely cracks Maeda with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd cheers as Worsely lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maeda doesn't seem phased though.
Worsely fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Maeda is out of range.

Worsely throws a chopping leg kick but Maeda manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Worsely is defended easily by Maeda.

Worsely throws a combination. Maeda tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Maeda tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice defenses there by Worsely.
Mark Worsely seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Maeda counters with a nice double leg into side control. Worsely won't be happy with that.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Maeda goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Worsely rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Maeda's guard! Nice work there by Worsely!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Maeda looking to take Worsely's back but Worsely rolls and after a scramble, Worsely ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Worsely to escape a tricky position.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Worsely will probably get the nod.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Maeda.
Worsely tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A nice combination there by Worsely.
Worsely avoids the head kick by Maeda.
Maeda throws a chopping leg kick but Worsely manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Worsely is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

and Maeda counters with an outside leg kick.
Worsely takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Maeda fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Worsely.

Worsely feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Maeda is looking for a sweep. Worsely is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Maeda is refusing to be controlled, as Worsely sits in half guard.

Worsely looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Worsely looks to land a strike but Maeda avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maeda displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Worsely throws out the jab.
Worsely sizes up Maeda with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Worsely throws a leg kick but Maeda sees it coming and moves out of range.
Maeda fails to land with a series of punches.
Worsely looks to land a left hand but Maeda moved out of range nicely.
Worsely blocks a head kick by Maeda.
Worsely tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Maeda fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Worsely.

Maeda slaps away a takedown attempt from Worsely, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Worsely takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Worsely misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Worsely lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Worsely throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Worsely wants to land a leg kick but Maeda is out of range.
Maeda pivots, looking for a leg kick but Worsely is out of range and Maeda settles back down.
Worsely takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Worsely misses with a low kick as Maeda jumps back.
Mitsuyo Maeda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Worsely is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Worsely moves out of range as Maeda strikes.
Maeda chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Worsely can pounce on him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mitsuyo Maeda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Worsely has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
