Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Equinox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Jr!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Equinox leaves Jr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Equinox attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Horrible takedown by Jr or perhaps it was just good defense by Equinox which made him look bad.
Jr shoots in for a takedown but Equinox shows good takedown defense.
John Equinox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edmundo Jr.
Jr moves away from the strike by Equinox.
Jr shoots for a takedown but Equinox saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Equinox pinned against the cage. Equinox gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Equinox darts in and clinches Jr up against the cage.

Equinox breaks the clinch.
Jr tries for a takedown but Equinox sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Equinox keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Equinox but Equinox pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jr tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Equinox just stands there and leans against the cage.

Equinox doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Equinox breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

No luck for Jr with that takedown attempt.
Jr closes the distance and clinches up with Equinox, looking for a takedown. Jr pushes Equinox against the cage but Equinox circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
John Equinox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jr scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jr throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The ground and pound from Jr seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jr with the ground and pound but Equinox regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Equinox on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jr is looking to advance position but Equinox won't allow it.
Jr not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Equinox is not content to let Jr control the position.
Equinox is pressing down on Jr's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Equinox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Equinox is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jr throws an elbow that misses. Equinox uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jr's guard. Nice move by Equinox!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Edmundo Jr will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jr shoots for a double leg takedown but Equinox sprawls well. He's pushed Jr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Jr takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Jr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Equinox's waist but Equinox gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jr off to one side.
John Equinox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edmundo Jr.
Equinox stuffs the takedown attempt from Jr. Jr gets slowly back to his feet.
Equinox moves in looking to clinch but Jr pushes him off.

Jr looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Equinox stuffs the takedown.
Jr closes this distance looking for a takedown but Equinox circles away.

Jr shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Equinox sprawls well. Equinox wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jr gets slowly back to his feet.
Edmundo Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Equinox tries to avoid it but Jr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Equinox to the ground. Equinox escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jr has his feet on Equinox's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Equinox lands with a right hand.

Equinox lands a really nice looking cross but Jr seems unphased.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Equinox makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Equinox lands with a left to the head.
Equinox throws a big uppercut that drops Jr! More strikes from Equinox and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Jr lies dazed against the cage as Equinox celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Equinox!
Our winner, John Equinox, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
