The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sappe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Marciano scores with a decent looking hook.


It looks like Bob Sappe has been cut.
Sappe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marciano swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Marciano lands a nice looking body shot.
Marciano misses the shot to the body.
Sappe shoots in for a double leg but Marciano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rocky Marciano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sappe takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Sappe takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Marciano stalks Sappe and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sappe's face. Sappe staggers backwards, shaken.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marciano just misses with a punch to the body.

and Sappe counters with a left to the body.
Marciano will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sappe lands an overhand right.


It looks like Rocky Marciano has been cut.

Marciano throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sappe is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Sappe misses with an uppercut
and Marciano counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sappe avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Marciano swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sappe doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Marciano counters with a nice body shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Marciano falls off balance throwing a combination

and Sappe counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Marciano is trying to stand.

Marciano is breathing heavily.
Sappe stalling.

Sappe maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Marciano could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Sappe has cracked it and Marciano is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Sappe!

A relieved looking Bob Sappe thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
