PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Beckwith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Craig Beckwith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Beckwith keeps the fight on the outside.
Beckwith avoids the head kick by Moore.
Moore moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Moore is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moore will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Moore drives through and clinches with Beckwith against the cage.
Moore stops a takedown attempt from Beckwith.

Moore breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Moore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Beckwith circles away from the clinch attempt.

Beckwith takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Moore lands a front kick.
Moore tries to close the distance and clinch but Beckwith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Moore rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Beckwith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Beckwith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Moore tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Moore tries to clinch but Beckwith is having none of it.
Moore tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Beckwith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Moore wants to clinch.
Beckwith circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Moore dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Moore wants to clinch up but Beckwith keeps it at a distance.

Moore closes the distance and pushes Beckwith back into the cage.
Beckwith wants to take the fight to the mat but Moore manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Beckwith drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Moore gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Beckwith changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Moore fights it off and pushes away nicely.
John Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Craig Beckwith.

The fight stays on the outside here - Moore looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Moore tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Beckwith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beckwith is looking for a kimura but Moore is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Beckwith to get the leverage.

Beckwith has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Moore defend it? Beckwith steps over the head and cranks it - Moore is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Beckwith!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Craig Beckwith!
