Hard throws a head kick but Gruber moves out of range.

Gruber sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hans Gruber hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hard throws a head kick that misses.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gruber is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hard has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hard!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gruber manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hard manages to get himself to full guard.
Hard wants to stand up but Gruber is controlling him.

Hard throws a sloppy head kick and Gruber moves out of range easily.

Hard takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gruber rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gruber avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gruber shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hard pinned against the cage. Hard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hard takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Gruber thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gruber has hold of Hard's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Hard seems comfortable defending it but Gruber has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Hard is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Hard is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gruber couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Hans Gruber was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
