Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kristan Maruyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janis Piternieks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kristan Maruyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Janis Piternieks!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Piternieks.
Piternieks shoots in looking for a takedown but Maruyama manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Piternieks's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Piternieks throws a sloppy head kick and Maruyama moves out of range easily.
Maruyama moves in looking to clinch but Piternieks pushes him off.
Nice sprawl there from Piternieks as Maruyama shoots in.

Piternieks closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Maruyama wants to get back to full guard.
Piternieks throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Maruyama decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Piternieks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Maruyama is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
