PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Judeas Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roberts comes into the arena with Hearts on Fire blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Judeas Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucas Dias!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dias misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dias gets caught napping as Roberts dives in and scores a takedown. Dias manages to retain guard.

Dias is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Roberts sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roberts wants to get up but he can't break Dias's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dias wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Judeas Roberts.
Roberts tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dias sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roberts somewhat.

and Roberts counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Roberts keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Roberts is just content to waste time from the top position. Dias takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Roberts tries to free his leg and advance position but Dias is retaining full guard.
Roberts has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dias looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Roberts wants to pass the guard but Dias is keeping the position.

Dias manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Roberts manages to get himself to full guard.
Roberts throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Dias is fighting to break Roberts's control of his arms but Roberts is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Dias wants to control from the top but Roberts keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Roberts fails with the takedown.

Roberts dives in and scores a takedown into Dias's guard.
Roberts lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Dias keeping moving, preventing Roberts from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roberts postures up in Dias's guard and throws a big left but Dias blocks it.
Dias is trying to control the position but Roberts postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dias shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roberts as he avoids it easily.

Dias tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Roberts manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Roberts gets the takedown into side control.
Roberts looks up at the clock and then as Dias takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Roberts smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Roberts wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dias keeps working.
Dias is looking for a sweep.
Dias wants to control but Roberts postures up.
Roberts wants to stand but Dias has his arm trapped.

Dias sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Roberts in particular looking to stall.
Dias is pressing down on Roberts's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dias utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Roberts postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dias is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Roberts, into his guard.
Roberts is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Roberts throws his legs up looking for a submission but Dias uses it to pass to side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roberts stops Dias from passing to mount.
Dias trying to control the position but Roberts is working away.
Dias throws a strike aimed at the side of Roberts's head but Roberts avoids it well.
Roberts tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dias wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dias wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roberts keeps working.
Roberts gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roberts's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Dias throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Roberts has his hands clasped together but Dias breaks the hold and Roberts is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Dias!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lucas Dias!
