Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerome Le Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Towns!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Towns has closed the distance and engaged Banner in a clinch.

Towns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Towns misses with a straight right.

Towns lands a big uppercut and Banner crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Banner looks OK. Towns waves Banner back to his feet!


Banner is rocked!


It looks like Jerome Le Banner has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Towns falls off balance throwing a combination
and Banner cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Towns scores with a jab to the body.

Towns closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Towns is fighting off a takedown attempt but Banner is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Towns to the mat. Towns regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Banner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Towns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Banner lands a couple of elbows.

Towns keeping moving, preventing Banner from controlling successfully.
Banner connects with a couple of short punches.
Towns manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Towns controlling his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Towns tries to control but Banner wriggling away.
Banner tries to hold on but Towns postures up.
Towns prevents Banner from getting the reversal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Towns looking to control and managing it successfully.
Banner wants to control but Towns is having none of it.
Towns prevents Banner from getting the reversal.
Banner wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Towns.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Towns can't control as he wanted to and Banner manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Banner gets full guard.
Towns engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jack Towns.
Banner circles away from the clinch attempt

and Banner counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Towns!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Banner fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Towns dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Banner showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Towns.
Towns tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Banner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A slow jab from Towns misses its intended target.
Towns rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Banner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Towns drives through and clinches with Banner against the cage.
Towns holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Towns misses with the head strike.
Banner drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Banner tries for a takedown but Towns manages to get underhooks.
Towns fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Towns tries to work over Banner's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Banner is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Towns is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerome Le Banner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Banner effectively controlling the action here.
Banner tries for a takedown but Towns manages to get underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Banner blocks an uppercut.

Banner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Banner tries to keep at a distance but Towns has taken the fight into the clinch.
Towns lands a right hand that snaps the head of Banner backwards.
Banner wants a takedown.
Good body shot from Towns.
Towns gets underhooks to prevent Banner's takedown attempt.
A nice right hand lands inside from Towns.
Towns lands a left hand that snaps the head of Banner backwards.
Banner wants to take the fight to the mat but Towns manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Towns tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Banner turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Towns is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Towns is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Banner's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Towns tries to get to full guard but Banner has control of the leg.
Towns has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Banner is working away from the top position though.
Banner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Towns with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Banner lands strikes from half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Towns can do anything to dispel that myth.
Towns is pressing down on Banner's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Banner throws an elbow that misses. Towns uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Banner's guard. Nice move by Towns!
Banner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Towns is one step ahead there.
Banner is pulling down on Towns's head. It's preventing any offense from Towns, at least for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Towns controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Towns trying to control the position from guard on top but Banner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Banner wants to stand and escape but Towns is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jerome Le Banner has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Banner feints and as Towns raises his hands in defense, Banner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Towns will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Jerome Le Banner's cut.
That's time! Banner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Banner walks into a left hand.

Towns clinches.
Banner wants to stall.
Banner has Towns pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Towns manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Banner lands with a short shot to the head.
Towns works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Towns tries to work over Banner's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Towns doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Towns tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Towns throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Banners head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Banner is trying to push Towns away but Towns has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Banner drops down looking for an ankle pick but Towns pulls his leg out and moves away.
Towns waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Banner.
Towns throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Towns lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Oh Banner is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Banner bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Towns comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Banner falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Banner was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Towns!
