Anderson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is My time is now. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dante Vader!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Anderson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vader did well to prevent Anderson getting side control.
Vader is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson winds up and cracks Vader with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Anderson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Anderson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Vader tries to get to full guard but Anderson has control of the leg.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Anderson controlling the pace.
Vader is looking for a sweep. Anderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Anderson is looking for a kimura but Vader is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Anderson to get the leverage.
Vader is staying active underneath Anderson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Anderson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vader sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Anderson wants to work for an arm triangle but Vader is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Anderson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Anderson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Vader turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Anderson off and cradles Vader's limp body as Anderson celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Sparky Anderson!
Sparky Anderson opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
