The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saputo's corner calls for a 1-2. Saputo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Saputo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Summit misses with a double jab.
Saputo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Saputo darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Summit wants to clinch.
Summit on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Saputo lands an overhand right.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Summit scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Summit fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Saputo is trying to improve his position.
Saputo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Summit's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Saputo is staying active underneath Summit, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Saputo is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Summit wants to take a breather but Saputo is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Summit sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Saputo defending well though.

Summit is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Summit fails with an attempt to clinch.
Summit tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Saputo was well out of range. Poor timing from Summit.
Saputo throws a leg kick but Summit checks it.
Saputo scores with a hook to the body. Summit takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Summit feints and as Saputo raises his hands in defense, Summit changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Summit wants to stand and escape but instead Saputo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Summit looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Saputo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Summit manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Summit trying to keep a closed guard but Saputo is proving a slippery customer.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Summit throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Summit looking to hit a scissor sweep but Saputo is one step ahead there.

Mike Saputo dominated that round.
That's time! Summit's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Summit shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Saputo sprawls well. Saputo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Summit gets slowly back to his feet.
Mike Saputo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Summit does no damage.
Summit doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Good exchange - Saputo coming out on top.
Saputo's jab looks to have found its range, popping Summit under the eye.
Summit shoots in but no luck this time.
Saputo has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Saputo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Summit takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Saputo dips to his left and cracks Summit with an uppercut!
Saputo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Saputo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Saputo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Summit checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Summit throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Saputo counters with a crisp right hand that drops Summit! Saputo lets Summit back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Summit is rocked!

It looks like Dan Summit has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
BAM! Saputo delivers a spinning backfist that drops Summit like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
