PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oslyn Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pernell Whitaker Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oslyn Rose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pernell Whitaker Jr!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rose moves into the clinch.
Whitaker Jr is struggling to control the position.
Rose stalls.
Rose tries to pull guard but Whitaker Jr holds him up against the cage and eventually Rose drops back down to his feet.
Whitaker Jr is looking for a takedown.
Whitaker Jr displaying some good clinch control by pressing Rose up against the cage.

Whitaker Jr ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Whitaker Jr no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Whitaker Jr is trying to control the position but Rose postures up.
Rose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Whitaker Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rose stands up from Whitaker Jr's guard - Rose perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rose uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Whitaker Jr.
Rose misses with a head kick.
Rose throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rose shoots in for a takedown but Whitaker Jr shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rose lands a jab to Whitaker Jr's midsection.
Rose changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Whitaker Jr tries to avoid it but Rose manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Whitaker Jr to the ground. Whitaker Jr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oslyn Rose. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rose takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Rose takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
A jab from Whitaker Jr does it's job there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Whitaker Jr connects with an inside leg kick.
Whitaker Jr lands a nice shot to the body.
Rose is breathing heavily.
Rose stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Whitaker Jr.
Whitaker Jr scoring well with a low kick there.
That kick from Whitaker Jr tenderised Rose's leg. Rose is trying to keep his angry face on.

Whitaker Jr lands a big right hand that sends Rose crashing to the mat! Whitaker Jr stays standing though and waves Rose back to his feet!

Rose is rocked!
Rose is holding his hands too far apart here. Whitaker Jr throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Rose is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!
