Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eduardo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johan Hegg!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hegg stuffs the takedown attempt from Silva. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hegg, who protects the arm well.

Silva goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hegg has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Silva but great work by Hegg.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
I really don't envy Silva right now.
What can Silva do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Hegg doesn't have the hooks in and Silva manages to turn into his guard.

Silva wants to advance to full mount but Hegg doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

That was a close round but I would say that Eduardo Silva will probably get the nod.

Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Hegg which made him look bad.

Hegg closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Silva is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hegg pulls his head out easily.
Silva is looking for a sweep. Hegg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Silva is looking for a triangle here but Hegg uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johan Hegg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Hegg drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hegg takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Silva is trying to reverse the position but instead Hegg has taken his back - oops!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hegg.

Hegg is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Hegg is trying to stick to Silva's back but Silva is turning into Hegg. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hegg's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Silva.
Hegg is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Johan Hegg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hegg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
