Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Mctanned!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kurt Bain!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bain throws a body punch but Mctanned moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Bain. No joy for Mctanned on that attempt.
Mctanned shoots for a takedown but Bain saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bain throws the left hand but Mctanned avoids the punch easily.
Bain tries to clinch there but Mctanned circles away.
Bain tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Mctanned counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Bain!
Bain is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mctanned is looking to advance position but Bain won't allow it.
Bain has his hands clasped together around Mctanned's back. He's all about the action.
Mctanned looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Mctanned trying to control from half guard but Bain is working away.
Mctanned not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Bain keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mctanned keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Mctanned is trying to control the action in half guard but Bain is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mctanned prevents Bain from improving his position.
Bain gets full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bain can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mctanned wants to pass the guard but Bain is keeping the position.
Mctanned trying to control the position from guard on top but Bain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bain can't keep his opponent in guard - Mctanned advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mctanned performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Mctanned trying to control the action but Bain is working from the bottom.

Mctanned is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bain doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mctanned.
Bain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mctanned. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mctanned is looking to pass Bain's guard but actually Bain recovers to full guard.
Mctanned throws a big right hand that misses.
Mctanned postures up.
Mctanned tries to free his leg and advance position but Bain is retaining full guard.

Bain wants to sweep but no luck.
Bain keeping moving, preventing Mctanned from controlling successfully.
Mctanned not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bain throws a nice looking combination but Mctanned bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Mctanned counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Bain!
You can see the frustration on Bain's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mctanned controls the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mctanned tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Mctanned swings around for an armbar but Bain sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mctanned's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Paul Mctanned has been cut.
Bain throws out a powerful jab.
Mctanned steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bain.

Bain gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bain seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Mctanned trying to control the position from guard on top but Bain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mctanned is looking for a kimura here.

Mctanned is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mctanned is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Bain reverses the position - he's now on top in Mctanned's guard.

Mctanned can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bain controls the pace.

Mctanned working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mctanned wants to hit a switch here but Bain passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mctanned there!

Bain controlling the pace for now.
Mctanned working to try and regain half guard.
Bain trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Bain prevents Mctanned from getting the reversal.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bain takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mctanned is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bain tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mctanned tries to reverse the position but Bain maintains control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mctanned is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paul Mctanned will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Bain wants to clinch up but Mctanned keeps it at a distance.
Bain misses the shot to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Bain.
Bain throws a leg kick that misses.
Bain tried to score with a low kick but Mctanned checks it.
Bain looks to throw the jab but Mctanned is out of range.
Bain connects with a crisp jab.
Bain lands a nice shot that snaps Mctanned's head back.
Mctanned defending well as Bain loads up on a big left hand.
Bain throws a push kick but Mctanned slaps the foot to one side.
Mctanned takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mctanned avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mctanned uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bain.

Bain just misses with a punch to the body.
Mctanned shoots in but no luck this time.

Mctanned looking to score a takedown here. Bain is defending well but Mctanned drives through and ends up in Bain's guard.
Bain wants to sweep here but Mctanned controlling him for the moment.
Mctanned trying to control but Bain is working from the bottom.
Mctanned is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bain is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Mctanned seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mctanned prevents Bain from getting back to his feet.
Mctanned's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Paul Mctanned has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Bain is looking to clinch.
Bain displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mctanned.
Bain lands a head shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mctanned swats away the attempt to clinch by Bain.

Bain moves into the clinch successfully.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Bain.
Bain goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Mctanned tries for a takedown but Bain manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Mctanned. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mctanned changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Paul Mctanned is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bain doesn't manage to clinch there - Mctanned circles away.

Bain drops Mctanned with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mctanned looks back up at him and smiles so Bain waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Mctanned is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bain is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Oh Mctanned is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bain swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mctanned seems to have got his legs back now.
Bain has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Bain scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mctanned doesn't seem bothered though.
Bain swings for the body but Mctanned moves out of range.
Bain throws a leg kick

and Mctanned counters with a shoot takedown. Bain fights it but they end up in guard.
Mctanned looking to sit in guard and control but Bain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bain trying to control but Mctanned is working from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mctanned looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Bain in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kurt Bain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mctanned has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
