Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emanoel Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Field (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Field told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emanoel Moreno!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Field!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Field shoots for a takedown but Moreno saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Moreno moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Field uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Moreno.
Field takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Field keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Moreno counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Moreno.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Field working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moreno doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moreno manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Field had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moreno defends it easily.

Moreno controls from within his opponent's guard.

Field has his foot on Moreno's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moreno works his way back into a safe position though.
Moreno wants to pass the guard but Field is keeping the position.
Moreno got a little sloppy there for a moment and Field has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moreno has managed to get both his arms back between Field's legs - danger averted.

Field is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Moreno is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Field is not content to let Moreno control the position.
Moreno seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Moreno in particular looking to stall.

Field is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Moreno pulls his head out easily.
Moreno lands strikes from half guard.
Moreno looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Moreno winds up and cracks Field with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Field is in trouble now - Moreno has advanced to mount!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Field shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moreno pinned against the cage. Moreno gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Field doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Moreno counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Moreno wants to work for an arm triangle but Field is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Moreno moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Field.
Field is looking to reverse the position.
Moreno advances nicely into full mount.
Moreno scores with a couple of good head shots there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
