Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Wain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kova Tangis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wain's entrance music is Bring the Noise. A fine choice. Kova Tangis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Wain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Kova Tangis!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tangis rushes Wain and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Tangis manages to break the clinch.
Tangis tries to clinch there but Wain circles away.

Tangis clinches.
Tangis misses with a knee to the head.

Tangis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tangis moves in looking to clinch but Wain pushes him off.

Wain tries to keep at a distance but Tangis has taken the fight into the clinch.

Tangis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Good leg kick by Tangis there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Tangis tries to clinch up but Wain circles away and keeps his distance.
Tangis tries to clinch but Wain moves out of range.
John Wain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wain bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tangis is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wain throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Wain throws a strike aimed at the side of Tangis's head but Tangis avoids it well.
Tangis wants to get back to his feet.

Wain tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Tangis pushes Wain away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wain gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Wain misses with the ground and pound.
Tangis stops Wain from passing to mount.
Tangis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wain is working Tangis over with some ground and pound from side control.

Tangis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wain is controlling him well.
Wain is looking to take a break and control but Tangis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wain misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wain wants to control but Tangis is keeping him busy.

Wain thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Wain sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Tangis is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Tangis is trying to get back to his feet.

Wain working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Tangis is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Wain has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Tangis throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
A slow jab from Wain misses its intended target.
Wain shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tangis defends it nicely.
Wain is breathing heavily.
Tangis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Wain dives in and grabs Tangis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tangis pushes down on Wain's head and hops out.
Wain tries to clinch up.
Wain misses with an uppercut. Tangis saw that one coming.
No luck for Wain with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Wain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tangis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Tangis with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tangis throws the kick towards the body but Wain avoids it.

Tangis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tangis crunches a lovely knee into Wain's ribcage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Tangis pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Tangis is struggling to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kova Tangis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

It looks like John Wain has been cut.
Tangis misses with a two punch combination.
Tangis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Wain.
Tangis fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wain stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Tangis.
A shot to the liver by Tangis. Beautiful body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tangis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tangis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Wain.
Kova Tangis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wain with a poor takedown
and Tangis counters with a head kick.
Tangis tries to close the distance and clinch but Wain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tangis has Wain up against the cage in a clinch.

Tangis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Tangis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Tangis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Tangis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tangis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Tangis wants to stand but Wain has his arm trapped.
Wain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tangis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tangis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tangis stands up and beckons Wain to his feet.
Wain shoots in but no luck this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tangis ducks under a wild hook from Wain.
Wain misses with a takedown attempt
and Tangis counters with a head kick. That will keep Wain thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Wain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tangis tries to clinch but Wain is having none of it.
Wain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tangis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tangis leaves Wain with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tangis throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


Wain is rocked!
Wain gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Tangis gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kova Tangis!
Kova Tangis decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
