Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Birdman Lugz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Birdman Lugz!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lugz with a lazy takedown attempt

and Shields counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Shields slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lugz can't keep his opponent in guard - Shields advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shields sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lugz defending well though.
Shields thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Shields keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Lugz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shields. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shields seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lugz for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jack Shields wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Shields closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lugz is working for takedown but Shields is calmly controlling the position for now.
Lugz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shields fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jack Shields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Birdman Lugz.
Lugz looks to clinch

and Shields counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Shields tightens his grip and picks Lugz up, before dumping him to the ground. Lugz manages to land in guard.

Shields controlling from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shields trying to control but Lugz is working from the bottom.
Shields seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Jack Shields wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Shields closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Shields tries to score a body lock takedown but Lugz shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lugz tries to pull guard but Shields forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Shields pulls guard effortlessly.
Shields is pulling down on Lugz's head. It's preventing any offense from Lugz, at least for the moment.
Lugz trying to control but Shields is working from the bottom.
Shields seems keen to control Lugz's posture.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Shields.
Lugz tries to close the distance and clinch but Shields swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lugz is looking to clinch but Shields is avoiding it.

Shields avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lugz shoots in but no luck this time.

and Shields counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lugz's guard now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lugz controls Shields momentarily but Shields frees himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shields throws a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Shields's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Shields closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lugz did well to prevent Shields getting side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shields wants to free his trapped foot but Lugz is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Shields not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Shields looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Shields trying to control from half guard but Lugz is working away.
Shields is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Shields uses his free foot to push down on Lugz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lugz.

Shields landing strikes from the mount.

Shields working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Lugz turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Shields off and cradles Lugz's limp body as Shields celebrates with his corner.
