Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sled Hammah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabian Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sled Hammah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fabian Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hammah shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hammah trying to control but Gomez is working from the bottom.
Hammah controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hammah could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hammah with a flurry of punches that miss.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gomez holds on and takes a little breather.
Gomez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hammah. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gomez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hammah is one step ahead there.
Hammah wants to stand but Gomez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sled Hammah has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hammah fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Hammah feints and as Gomez raises his hands in defense, Hammah changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gomez is pulling down on Hammah's head. It's preventing any offense from Hammah, at least for the moment.
Gomez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Gomez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hammah avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammah pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gomez is keeping the position for now.
Hammah trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammah postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gomez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hammah drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gomez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hammah has Gomez in his guard.
Hammah might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hammah pushes Gomez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Gomez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gomez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hammah leaves Gomez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gomez is defended easily by Hammah.

Gomez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hammah.

Hammah shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hammah was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hammah thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hammah stands up and beckons Gomez to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hammah takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hammah is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gomez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sled Hammah. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Donk. Gomez catches Hammah right on the button with a cross.
Gomez has a takedown stuffed.

Gomez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hammah decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gomez, up you get!
Gomez tries to clinch but Hammah moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sled Hammah dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sloppy strikes from Hammah. Those never looked like landing.
Gomez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hammah as he jumps to the side.
Hammah fails to land the takedown.
Gomez shoots in looking for a takedown. Hammah tries to sprawl out of it but Gomez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hammah manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gomez doesn't manage to clinch there - Hammah circles away.
Hammah shoots in for a takedown but Gomez shows good takedown defense.
Hammah misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gomez.

Hammah tries to clinch but Gomez is having none of it.
Gomez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sled Hammah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabian Gomez.
Horrible takedown by Gomez or perhaps it was just good defense by Hammah which made him look bad.
Fabian Gomez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomez is breathing heavily.
Gomez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Hammah closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hammah lands in his opponent's guard.

Hammah stands up and waves to Gomez to follow him.

Hammah is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hammah throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomez's waist but Gomez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hammah off to one side.

Hammah closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gomez did well to prevent Hammah getting side control.

Hammah is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gomez defends it well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gomez tries to clinch but Hammah is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gomez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hammah shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gomez as he avoids it easily.
Hammah throws a right hand that Gomez ducks under and follows up with a left that Gomez also avoids with ease.
Horrible takedown by Hammah or perhaps it was just good defense by Gomez which made him look bad.
Hammah uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gomez.
Sled Hammah is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gomez throws a right and a left that Hammah avoids nicely.
Sled Hammah is winning the standup battle so far.
Gomez shoots in for a takedown but Hammah shows good takedown defense.
Gomez scores with the left hand. Hammah knows he should have avoided that one.
Gomez shoots for a double leg takedown but Hammah sprawls well. He's pushed Gomez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well Hammah has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
