PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hermio Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Legionarivs Sakara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sakara has chosen The Rise of Sakara as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hermio Junior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Legionarivs Sakara!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Junior 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Junior walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Junior moves in looking to clinch but Sakara pushes him off.
Sakara cracks Junior with a good jab.
Junior uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sakara.
Junior connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Junior tries to clinch up.
Junior gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sakara lands a glancing blow to the side of Junior's head.
A jab from Sakara finds it's way through Junior's defenses.
Hermio Junior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Junior missing with a left hand there. Sakara was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Junior.
Sakara connects with the punch.
Sakara cracks a nice hook into Junior's ribs.
Junior tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sakara swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sakara misses with the combination.
Sakara scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Junior takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Junior tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sakara manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Junior gets the takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
You can see the frustration on Sakara's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sakara is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Junior's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Junior thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sakara's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sakara gets back to full guard.
Junior working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sakara wants to sweep but no luck.

Junior lands a couple of elbows.
Sakara is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Junior throws a strike but Sakara rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sakara stops Junior from standing up.
Sakara is stalling in the full guard.
Junior is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Junior keeping moving, preventing Sakara from controlling successfully.
Junior wants to stand and escape but Sakara is having none of it.
Sakara is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Legionarivs Sakara wasn't active enough on the ground.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Sakara tries to stall but Junior uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Junior misses with a punch to the body.
Junior lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sakara backwards.
Sakara lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Sakara keeps control of Junior as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Sakara throws a punch but it's blocked by Junior.
Sakara blocks a body shot from Junior.
Junior lands with a short punch from the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sakara's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sakara misses with a wild body shot.
Junior scores with a hook.
Junior shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sakara defends it nicely.
Sakara scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Legionarivs Sakara dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

It looks like Hermio Junior has been cut.
Junior has a takedown stuffed.
Sakara scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sakara connects with a right hand. Junior shakes it off.
Junior has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Junior there as he acknowledges the shot.
Sakara listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Junior shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sakara sprawls well. Sakara wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Junior gets slowly back to his feet.
Sakara cracks Junior with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Junior takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Junior fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sakara lands a jab.
Junior takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Sloppy strikes from Junior. Those never looked like landing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sakara drops Junior with a beautiful combination! Junior stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sakara is looking for the KO!


Junior is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sakara throws an overhand right that drops Junior like a sack of potatoes! Sakara dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Legionarivs Sakara!
