The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dietrich ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Purcell moves away.
Dietrich fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Purcell manages to avoid it.
Dietrich tries a head kick but it misses.
Purcell jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Dietrich is looking to slow Purcell down with leg kicks.
Purcell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dietrich throws out a powerful jab.

It looks like Dominic Purcell has been cut.
Dietrich throws a sloppy head kick and Purcell moves out of range easily.

Purcell swings wildly with an uppercut but Dietrich uses good head movement to avoid it.

Dietrich seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Purcell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dietrich stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dietrich wants it to stay on the feet.

Dietrich lands a big head kick that sends Purcell tumbling to the mat! Dietrich takes a step backwards and waves Purcell back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Dietrich ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Purcell moves away.
Dietrich misses with a wild body shot.
Dietrich lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Dietrich lands a nice leg kick that just misses Purcell's sensitive parts.

A head kick from Dietrich lands but Purcell takes it in his stride.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dietrich feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Purcell's calf.

Dietrich tried to score with a low kick but Purcell checks it.
Dietrich looks to score with a jab to the body but Purcell is just out of range.
Dietrich turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Dietrich dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Purcell. That did some damage!
Nice uppercut lands for Dietrich. That snapped Purcell's head back.

Dietrich gets caught napping as Purcell dives in and scores a takedown. Dietrich manages to retain guard.
Purcell wants to get up but he can't break Dietrich's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dietrich is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Dietrich manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Purcell manages to get himself to full guard.

Purcell tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Purcell ducks right into an uppercut from Dietrich.
Dietrich connects with a single shot there.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Dietrich, right into the meat.

Dietrich lands a head kick. Purcell smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

so Purcell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dietrich is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Purcell can do to turn this around?
Dietrich wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hans Dietrich just wasn't active enough.
Dietrich lands with a kick to the temple. Purcell shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Purcell shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dietrich sprawls well. Dietrich wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Purcell gets slowly back to his feet.
Dietrich moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Dietrich lands a glancing blow to the side of Purcell's head.

That has opened up Dominic Purcell's cut even more.
Dietrich tries to bum rush Purcell with a series of wild strikes but Purcell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Dietrich drops Purcell with a beautiful combination! Purcell stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Dietrich is looking for the KO!

Purcell is rocked!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
