Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Key (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Key has chosen EYELID - REGENERATE as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Key!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Key is looking to land body kicks.
Key on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Hunter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Key as he avoids it easily.
Hunter motions for Key to come forward. Hunter throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nice jab there from Hunter.
Key lunges at Hunter with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hunter's hand.
Hunter shoots for a double leg takedown but Key sprawls well. He's pushed Hunter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hunter scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hunter lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hunter.
Hunter moves out of range as Key strikes.

Hunter scores with a takedown into Key's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Key is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hunter wants to pass the guard but Key is keeping the position.
Key is pulling down on Hunter's head. It's preventing any offense from Hunter, at least for the moment.
Hunter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hunter postures up in Key's guard and throws a big left but Key blocks it.
Hunter stands up over Key, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Key trying to keep a closed guard but Hunter is proving a slippery customer.
Key pulls Hunter in close to his closed guard and prevents Hunter from doing any damage or advancing position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Key pulls Hunter in to control the position.

Don Key has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Key tries a head kick but it misses.
Key goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Don Key seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Key throws a right and a left that both miss.

Key throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Key ducks under a wild hook from Hunter.
Key keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hunter.
Hunter throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Key fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Key chopping away at his opponent's legs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hunter has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Key.
Key misses with a body kick.

and Key counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Hunter uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Key has time to react.

Key turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Key is looking to work some ground and pound but Hunter has wrist control.

Hunter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Key is one step ahead there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Key must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hunter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Key defends it easily.

Hunter looking for a guillotine here but Key defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jay Hunter will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Hunter counters with a thumping low kick.
Hunter misses the shot to the body.
Key connects with a leg kick. Hunter looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Hunter slips under a jab from Key.
Hunter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Key looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Key prevents Hunter from improving his position.
Hunter wants to get back to full guard but Key has mounted him!
Hunter is in a horrible position here. Key smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hunter is looking to improve his position but Key isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Key cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hunter slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Hunter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hunter tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Key has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Hunter is looking to get to half guard.
Key scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Hunter?
Key lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Hunter is in all sorts of trouble here.
Key lands a heavy elbow.

Key wants to finish this one by submission but Hunter is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Key.
Key has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hunter's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Key in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Hunter is in a horrible position here. Key smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hunter tries to lock up and control but Key gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Key thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hunter's head.

Key tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hunter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Key moves into full mount! Hunter won't be happy about that!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hunter wants to hold on but Key pushes him away.
Key breaks from Hunter's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Hunter tries to lock up and control but Key gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Key lands a big elbow.
Hunter slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Key trying to control the action but Hunter is working from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Key throwing shots but Hunter is blocking nicely.
Key wants to pass to mount but Hunter is defending the position.
Key seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hunter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Key showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Key thuds a left hand into Hunter's body.

A looping hook to the body misses from Key. Hunter does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hunter chopping away at his opponent's legs.

A shot to the body from Hunter misses
and Key counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hunter thinking.

Key tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Hunter on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Key. Key obviously looking to wear him down.
Key fails with an attempt to clinch.
Key avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Hunter looks to throw the jab but Key is out of range.

Hunter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hunter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Key swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Key has his hands on Hunter's head, controlling the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Key is on top in guard.
Key wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hunter is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Key is aware though and is defending well.
Key in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Hunter is looking to cinch up a triangle. Key throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hunter's body to avoid the submission. Hunter has instead reached around Key's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hunter arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jay Hunter!
